Can this item be hooked up to my sand filter and work as a pool pump? I realize I will need some sort of 240/120v to 12v adapter. Only asking because I have the opportunity to get this item for free. Current pump works, but I like to have a backup. Considering getting this and swapping out current pump to keep as a backup and use this waste pump for general duty until it dies and then I replace with the used pump I will have put into storage.

I doubt it would have anywhere near the power to move a large quantity of water over a long time period.

It "may" work sufficiently good enough to act as a sump pump to lower the pool water level for closing.

No. Not a self priming pump. 12 GPM? Dirt would fill the pool before it would be filtered. Would not shove water through a filter. Etc, etc,etc,.
