TLDR: Will running a solar heater at night significantly reduce pool temperature. What’s type of solar heater would work the best?
Details: We have a small pool ~8000 gallons in a glass enclosure. Pool is heating up to 97° F already. We want to avoid opening the doors due to the amount of dirt that will get blown in. I’ve heard of running a solar heater at night will reduce the water temperatures.
We live in the high desert in the southwest US, where the temperature drops rapidly after sunset today the high is 93°F with a low of 57°F.
Does anyone have experience lowering pool temperature this way? If so what type of solar heating equipment do you have, how well did it work?
We also plan on running the solar heater in the winter to avoid using the gas heater.
Currently the front runner is SunRay solar collector absorbers . Solar Collector Absorbers | Sun Ray Solar | Solar water heating and pool heating
I’d like to set these up as glazed units during the winter, and adjusted in the summer to allow airflow over the absorbers during the summer.
Any input is appreciated!
