Rock Salt Finish Concrete Deck In Winter Climates?

I’m curious if anyone on here in cold/freezing weather climate areas (like Michigan) have gone with a rock salt concrete finish on their decking? I really like the way it looks but I am getting some conflicting reports as to whether it is an issue using it in areas that have potential freeze thaw cycles in winter. Hoping someone on here has used it with good success.

I live in FL so do not have freeze worries but know of several places that have this kind of treatment to their concrete and know they battle dirt and algae on a very regular bases :( They wish they had not done it. Looked great for about 6 months then...........lots of work to try to keep it up.

I went with the rock salt finish, but I'm in OK. While we get freeze/thaw cycles, they are not nearly as vicious as yours in MI. I haven't had it through a winter yet, but I know plenty of others in the area that have, and they have not had any issues with it.

Was not an option here in SW Ohio last year during my build. Stamped, aggregate, and broom finish were the three options I was presented from two different concrete contractors. Pavers were an option, but that was the definitely the most costly.

It looks like its trying to mimic one of the natural stone textures. There was a thread a while back where the OP had problems with algae in porous stone, filling the holes was a viable option. I could see how freezing water would be an issue.
