Rip on the rail of my pool

Hello, I was wanting to see if anyone would know a way to repair a tear where the vinyl goes over the rail and meets back on the liner on the outside of the pool. The tear is on the outside of the pool, it would not actually be touching water but obviously is used to hold the water. Thank in advance!

Put fix on before you add water...........I worry the rip will keep going if you start adding water now. I would also go a ways beyond the rip AND I would go along the rip AND over the rail in an effort to support the vinyl both ways.

If you have a piece of vinyl laying around, or can buy a piece, even if colors don't match. Large enough to wrap from one side over to the other then use something like a grommet tool or similar to attach everything together under the rail. Could possibly even sew it for that matter. This should take alot of the force off the existing piece of vinyl. a temporary fix but should help. makes sense in my head

Thanks everyone, see I got this pool used($100) they bought it last summer I think we stressed the liner when taking it down. I would not have been in this situation if my 22' Intex hadn't rusted out in less than 2 years. I can't really afford a new one right now so I'm quite bummed out our other Intex lasted like 8 years......

Is there anyway you can winterize the pool in place?
Were you able to contact Intex about replacement parts? I know they can be "silly" about things.
I definitely understand the budget constraints!

the intex is the one that rusted, we never take ours down, but we bought the one i put in the pic above the other day and i think we stressed the liner when we were trying to get it apart so it ripped like that because best i know it was not like that before we took it apart at the persons house.

FWIW, I was at Walmart today and just happen to catch the liner design as I was walking past the pool stuff.
If I remember the size correctly 18'? that appears to be a Coleman pool, $388.00
Use the liner and have many spare parts, I suppose you might already know the brand.

also going to take this loctite marine adhesive and glue the liner to the top of the rails for those two horizontal beams to help take the load off the tear.

I might be a little wary about doing this because the liner will move around and twist a little on the rails as you fill the pool to balance the load on both sides of the loop. Unless you can manage to glue it exactly in the right spot you might wind up adding more of a load against the rip than relieving it.
