Help. My Rheem heater is giving me a message of sensor failure. Does this mean I have to replace the sensor? How difficult is that?

We'll need a little more info about the heater and message. What model number is the heater and what sensor is failing?
The sensors on my heater are just 2 wires and screw into an opening so replacing them looks very easy.

Thanks. I found the sensor and have ordered a new one. So I will see if that fixes it. My model is 266a it is a Raypak. It is the thermostat sensor that is failing.
Yes it would be the temp sensor and easy to replace. Remove the front panel, unscrew the four screws holding the front bezel in place. Now you have access to where the sensor plugs in. Remove the side panels where the water pipes are at. With the pump off, you will see the white nut that holds the sensor in place. Unscrew, remove, remove wire from board. Reverse the process to install the new sensor.
