I am trying to settle a debate LOL On an above ground pool does your return jet need to be underwater. If so can you tell me why

It does not. It will create alot of aeration if above the water line, which will force your pH higher. It will also restrict skimming performance if you have a skimmer.

Thank you!! I knew it would increase pH. I didn't know if it would put pressure on the pump by not having it covered

I did not say that. It will not effect pump pressure at all.
