How do I get this out of the wall without breaking it? I want to buy a fountain to aerate the water at night as my pool is now 90 degrees. I googled and I came up with nothing. Thanks!

A needle-nose pliers can have the tips inserted into the slots and then it can (or should be able to) be turned to the left to remove the locking ring.
