My pool has 7 Jandy SAVI Melody S lights that are connected to an Aqualinks controller. Each light is installed approximately 1.5 feet below the surface of the pool water (30,000 gallon pool).
I live in the northeast where I need to close up the pool for the winter and blow out all the lines etc. but the lights stay in the pool during the winter.
I plan to replace a couple of these lights that no longer work with the new Hyrdocool model. My question is: do I need to drain the pool low enough so water doesn't get into the pool light piping since I don't take out the lights during the winter? Or can I simply remove and replace the lights while they're underwater - and not worry that water gets into the light piping.
The Jandy/Zodiac rep said the lights can be replaced underwater, but he wasn't sure about my question about pipes freezing in the winter if water gets in the light piping.
I've done this before and I've always drained the pool to below the light level - but I wanted to see if I was being to cautious and can do it easier by not draining all that water.
Thank you in advance for any guidance!
