I keep getting FL1 and FL2 errors in my tub so I am going to replace the flow switch. Do I need to replace the full plastic housing or can I just unscrew the bit with the sensor (the black part in the photo) and replace that part and keep using the existing clear plastic housing? The part that I ordered from Amazon comes with everything, but it seems to me that there is no reason to replace the entire tube, unless I am missing something.

And do you have to clamp off the water coming in or will the tube not refill with water when you are doing this?

I replaced it last night, just the switch. I played around with the old one after I took it out. While I still had the old switch plugged in to the control board and I squeezed the switch togetherand I still still got FL1 errors, so it seems like the old switch was faulty. Once I plugged in the new one everything seems ok, no more FL1 errors. I was going to also try testing the old switch with a continuity tester to see that the circuit does remain open when the flapper is up against the post.

One complication is that water will continue to pour out of the switch port - I guess unless you have drained your tub, which I didn't. So you have to work quickly and be prepared that water will soak whatever is underneath the flow switch. So have the new switch ready to go with Teflon tape on the threads.
