Replacing a channel drain

I have a micro channel drain that runs the length of my pool deck. It's probably 30 years old and has dirt and roots caked on the inside. I am almost done ripping it out, but it runs behind an electrical conduit.

I'm having to use a 12-inch sawzall blade because the drain is 9 inches in depth. My wife is scared I'm going to hit something electrical.

Anyone think this is a problem, or are the wires in the conduit?

28,

The wires are in the conduit and not in the drain, you should be fine.. Just don't cut into the conduit...

Another one to add to the list of things that I have said just before the breaker pops and the lights have gone out...

Thanks,

Thanks Jim. Do you think the conduit runs a few feet deep then 90s out under the deck toward the pool?

One more thing... I'd like to have someone cut the concrete and put in a wider drain. I can't seem to wrap my head around running a larger drain around the conduit. It seems I might have to go back with the small drain and go BEHIND the conduit. Anyone have another thought?

28,

I would not think a few feet.. maybe 12" to 18".. No telling where the conduit goes once it gets underground...

I would try to cut either side of the conduit and then work on getting the piece behind the conduit out of the ground..

Is that patio ? Or some kind of packed gravel? To me if possible it would be worth it to dig around the conduit to know for sure where it goes.

Looks like the drains are higher than your deck which means they aren't working.
I had those drains by my pool all they do is collect trash and I am continually cleaning them.
I took a concrete 6 inch Diamond Tuck Point Blade, and cut out 44 feet of the drain in 30 minutes, put in foam backer 4" x50' (cut to fit) filled with deck O Seal.
