Woke up this morning to lower water level and a crack down the side of my DE filter.

I'm guessing it was at least 15 years old when we moved in 4 years ago.

Any recommendations on replacement models?

Another FNS 60 if you are happy with a DE filter or the Pentair Quad DE filter that uses cartridges and DE or a large cartridge filter if you want to rid yourself of DE.

After a lot more reading online. I am leaning toward the pentair quad de. It seems like many people like to oversize them for efficiency and reduce servicing. For my intelliflo, am I correct that I could put in the 100 SF?

I had one supply store advise me that they are very difficult to clean because they are so heavy to lift the filters out. Another national chain said the 100sf would only be for an Olympic sized pool. Regardless, they all say Pentair has been impacted heavily by covid-19 and everything is back ordered for months.

All I can find locally is the FNS plus 60 or quad de 60. I can also look into the 520 and see if that is available.

I was really hoping to optimize the system and reduce maintenance since this would be a long term change. Not sure what my best options are now with limited product options.

I bought a quad 60 specifically because it was easy to clean and NOT heavy. Being an old coot, was concerned about lifting the weight of a dirty cartridge. With the quad, you can just open it up and hose off the cartidges. Easy Peasy.

So in terms of what is available locally, I can only get a FNSPlus 60 or Quad DE 60.

The Max flow rate is 120 for the quad de 60, so if I understand correctly I would have to limit my intelliflo so it doesn't go above that. Not sure if that is a good solution since optimally the filter would outsize the pump flow rate right?

I saw on Pentair's website the Easy Clean DE filter but I haven't ever seen anyone discussing it as an option. Anyone familiar with it?

Alternatively, would my best bet be getting a larger cartridge filter and forgetting about DE.

I appreciate the input. But I would like to know more about why the 520 cartridge filter is a good choice. Is there a reference or discussion where I can learn more?

Awesome. I'll check for availability. Hopefully it will be available. Most places I called specifically said that it was DE products that were backordered for Pentair.

FWIW, I use an Intelliflo with my Quad. When I was researching, I was told there really wasn't a problem. Theoretically the max the pump could put out was about 130 GPM at full speed, but practically, with head loss, it doesn't happen. Additionally the goal of the Intelliflow is to run at the lowest speed that works for your setup. Just a thought.

So after calling around it looks like I can get the ccp520 for$1099 plus tax which seems like a good deal.

You mentioned no multiport. My current setup has a push pull to backwash and lower pool levels after it rains. Is this ok? Or would you just have unions directly to the filter?
Get a 520 sq ft cartridge filter. No multiport.
