I saw an old thread on cleaning marble pavers and wanted to add my own experience. My dog has left muddy paw prints on our nice unsealed white marble pavers. The stains were bad and had gotten into the pores of the unsealed stone. gentle soap in hot water with a serious scrub brush did nothing. I googled around and tried baking soda. i wet the marble well and then sprinkled baking soda on the effected areas. I hit it with a deck brush on a long handle. it turns into a slurry. That stuff worked wonders. Took a little bit of elbow grease but it pretty much all came up. I hope this is helpful.

I have used baking soda mixed with hydrogen peroxide or vinegar to clean dirty tiles and white grout on tile floors.

Careful with acids on marble. Marble is just a mixture of calcite and dolomite, both carbonate minerals. Acids will convert the carbonates into salts and carbon dioxide. That removes material and can cause roughness. Baking soda is fine because it does not chemically react with the marble - it’s just abrasive and mechanically removes softer materials from the surface. The higher pH acts as a mild detergent that lifts dirt. One could use oxiclean (sodium percarbonate) as well as it is just a carbonate-peroxide mixture. There are acid cleaning methods for marble that also seal and polish the surfaces through chemical conversion of the carbonate to a fluorosilicate mineral but they should only be done by professionals with the proper equipment.
