A f riend of mine comes to my pool a lot and she has been noticing red bumps like a skin rash. She is wondering if this rash might be caused by the pool water. Anyone have any insight about this?
Vinyl Pool
FC- 6 (just added some CYA so SWG was making too much chlorine, lowered SWG % and is coming back down) my normal is 3ppm
CC is 0 or .25
TA is 50
ph is 7.6
CYA is 55-60
CH is 50
SALT IS 2800
WATER IS CRYSTAL CLEAR
DE filter ( just installed DE filter last winter, was sand.
Tft test kit

FC 3 is too low for CYA 60 (anything from 51-59 rounds up to 60).
See the FC/CYA Levels chart for minimum and target FC ranges for CYA 60. Adjust your SWG to maintain toward the upper end of the target range. This helps keep sufficient FC in the water during times the SWG may be off or you have a heavy bather load.

Let the pH hover in the 7.8 area. No need to lower it.

CC can only be measured in increments of 0.2 or 0.5. How did you get the .25?

Its just a guess based on the shade of the color change. None of these "color" tests are perfect. It turned a tiny bit blue with one drop, then bluer with 2 drops
I am just struggling trying to figure out if my pool water is causing my friends rash.
I appreciate all the help, Thank you.

Algae is unsightly but harmless. It's the stuff that you can't ever see such as bacteria, viruses and pathogens that are the real concern.

Algae is also microscopic and you can be both unsanitary and with Algae in clear water.

Google swimmer's itch to see how common it is.
my normal is 3ppm
Your CYA sets the appropriate FC level. The higher the CYA, the more FC you need to sanitize at the same ability. Have some reading.

Thank you for the information. Do you think this could cause the rash on my friends skin?

Your pool was unsanitary. None of us were there, nor are we doctors, but skin irritations in unsanitary water are common. We all have different sensitivities to it. Everyone always blames the chlorine but it's really mismanaged chlorine.

I’m referring to the CC test. It doesnt use blue color. If has drops that turn the water pink again after your FC test and then drops to make it clear. There is no color shade judging required. The CC test is one of those that can be related to skin irritation and so I was trying to make sure you were doing it right.
