They installed a Vivid spa light in my pool. It is at the end of our 32' pool so you can't help but see it. When you do it is like staring at the sun. Go inside for a few minutes to let your eyes adjust.
They recommended a dimmer switch, I did, was able to reduce the light to only shine in the pool versus the entire lanai, but it is still super intense. so I ordered a blue filer but now the light flashes if dimmed. Whay am I paying close to $1,000 and trying to jury rig this thing ?
So I am going back to the installer. I know they use a lot of Pentair lights, would any of you recommend one particular model.
I don't care about the price any longer, color or not I don't care, just want a glow in my pool.
HELP !

I have been told that all of the led spa lights are intense. Someone mentioned using a stick on film, but the AI said that it wouldn't hold up under water.
The Hayward colorlogic 4 has different colors, but the installer said that it would be just as intense.
Any other option ?
Wold the Hayward be better ?

The whole purpose of LED pool lights was to provide light as bright as an incandescent without the energy cost. They are very bright also in part because the color is very "white."

If you want to lower that intensity, and if it will fit your niche, get a standard Amerilite and a 22-27 watt (100 watt equivalent) PAR38 bulb from Home Depot. Be sure to get an "outdoor" rated bulb. Get a silicone lens gasket. If you had a standard light and the Vivid was a replacement, an Amerilite will fit.

My pool was that way for a few years with the light at one end and a soft, very "white," glow through the entire 36' of pool. I think that bulb came in a two-pack for about $15.00.

Unfortunately, I listened to my daughter and got a color-changing, old style, LED from Pentair and now some of the colors don't work and I'm too old to be changing lights.
