I have a 35000 gal pool that I was using a astra pool system on and after 5 yrs, it has quit working correctly. The cell has never been replaced , just cleaned, and believe it to be cell is out. Company is out of business now but there is a replacement cell for around $700. What systems do you recommend?

Hey M and Welcome !!!

Are you going to DIY ? Circupool is hard to beat. They claim the most production for the longest time, both likely inflated but at worst they are as good as anyone else, and usually cheaper.

There's a forever sale where you buy the lower model and 'upgrade it' for $10 to the one you wanted. We aim for 2X here so you only need to run it about 12 hours a day in the peak season. Less runtime means longer life and less pump electricity. They have 55k and 60k models that are close enough for you. (I like the RJ60+) The daily UV demand is much friendlier in PA than it is in TX, so you have that going for you when you don't quite hit the 2X.

The SJ series is fine, but...

The RJ is rated to last more hours, something like 10,000 for the SJ and 15,000 hours for the RJ.
The RJ outputs more chlorine per day than the SJ.
The RJ has diagnostics to help troubleshoot the system. We can usually tell if the cell needs to be replaced from the diagnostic readings or if something else is wrong.
The RJ can be dialed in with smaller increments of output percentage. The SJ is adjusted with 20% jumps.
The SJ is cheaper.
I have seen more issues with the SJ series than I have with the RJ series.

Was only looking as not have to replumb as it looks like it would fit in where we will take off old one
Sometimes the sale is so good you'd be foolosh not to go there. :ROFLMAO:

But yeah. I've happily lived with 20% adjustments since 2012 and when forced to either over or under produce, it's no choice. Not even close. #teamrunhot.

How does one do this 'upgrade' .. does it prompt you when you're checking out? or is there a code one needs to put in?
thanks!

Right on the page for any model at discount salt pool it asks if you want to upgrade to the next one for $10.

Ok sweet, thanks! I was on the wrong site (the actual circupool site)
They already often reasonably aligned where Circupool doesn't have the upgrade but it's cheaper in the first place. Best to always check both before pulling the trigger. (y)
