Hello! I have an 180000 Gallon Inground pool. I'm looking to get any feedback anyone might have on the Heat pump I'm looking at installing. I've selected a RayPak Crosswind V 138K BTU. I just want to extend the season a little. Perhaps Early May to Late September. The pool is in full sun. I selected RayPak for it's reputation, plus it has onboard wifi capability. It 138K BTUs generally enough to heat the pool reasonably?

A 140K HP will heat a 18,000 gallon pool 1 degree per hour in ideal conditions at 80F and 80% humidity. You will get less heat as the air temperature drops.

Is your pool covered to retain the heat you will pay for?

It becomes an 87K HP at 50F and will give about 1/2 degree an hour of heat.

It ain't going to work for you. I have several pools that simply cannot take advantage of early/late called shoulder season, basically either side of comfortable ambient temps because the capacity is designed around temps that aren't in your neck of the woods early or late in the season.
