I've searched around but couldn't find much so I wanted to start a discussion on what would be considered the best season/time for a new pool build?

We have found our builder who said they can start in November but I was thinking of doing a Spring 2021 build. We are in no rush at all so time isn't really an issue for us. Reason for concern....rainy season coming up though I am not sure this is an issue when building pools?

This would be for a standard 30x15 classic pool, gunite shell with pebble finish, and Concrete coping/decking here in Northern California.

Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to TFP! I first ready you title as Best reason to build a pool and was all ready to say Because you want to!! LOL

Season is just about the same............when you can get someone to show up to do the build. You may not really have any say in the matter as the PB have been working over time so they are behind in most areas.

Pool builders seem to be pretty backed up right now. I'd go with the November start date. Even if they have delays you'll probably be swimming next summer. With the March date, if it gets pushed back due to demand, and you have any other delays, you will lose your swim season next year.
We had construction jenga that added delays, but we went on contract in October 2018, and the pool was filled in early June 2019.

We signed our contract on 14 Sept and I don’t expect to start digging until mid Nov. I expect a slow down for winter holidays but should still be done in Jan/Feb but be set for the summer. Also, I get to get used to caring for a pool before anyone gets to use it.
If you are asking about which season hoping for a price discount I don’t think that exists. They are too busy these days. There are so many around here (Florida) that won’t even give a quote because they are too busy right now.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm concerned about rain and any issues that may cause with running plumbing lines, electrical, and the dig. Would it be better to build in spring when rain potential is less? Or am I being a paranoid new pool build owner? Lol
