Question about purchase from Marina Pools and Dolphin Warranty

Hello,

First i want to say thank you so much for this amazing resource of pool information. I was on the market for a new pool cleaner after my Aquabot s2-50 died after 6 years, purchased a Aquabot Breeze SE and it only cleaned 1/2 of the pool no matter where i positioned it so i was done with cleaners that use random patterns. Did a bunch of research and Dolphin always came up as the winner. I was so torn on which model to get, I have a 21' Above Ground Pool and i just couldnt do the above ground models of the Escape, E-10, S-50 etc.

Went to my local Dolphin dealer (50 min drive.... lol ) and they recommended the Dolphin m200 and let me demo that.... well it would climb the walls then fall upside down or it would just shut off after like 20 min of running, they said it was probably broken and needed to be repaired. Unforunately, not a good first impression for my first time using a Dolphin so i was had doubts about the m200, plus it looks like a tank and is ugly heh

I started asking about the s300i ($1349) and the m400 ($1299) and i was advised that the s300i was much lighter when full of water and only 2pds heavier than the s-50 and it looked cool with cool features and caddy!!

I ran into a few threads saying to purchase from Marina Pools, so i gave them a call and was blown away that the s300i was only $949 plus a $75 rebate??? So i went ahead and purchased it. Margaret told me that the warranty would still be valid and would not be counted as an online purchase.

Has anyone successfully registered their unit or had any problems with getting warranty service at a local repair center since purchasing it from Marina? Do i need to do anything special when i register mine? I opened it up and saw a leaflet stating warranty is void if purchased online so im a bit scared.

I do have some good news though, you CAN purchase an extended 3 year warranty from Asurion on Amazon, even if you do not purchase the unit from Amazon. I called and confirmed with them, so i went ahead and purchased. It is an additional 3 year warranty after the manufacturers warranty ends bumper to bumper (minus wear and tear items) and my Visa Signature also gives a 1 year extended warranty as well, but that runs concurrent with Asurion, not in addition too. I will call them tomorrow to register, but wanted to register my unit with Dolphin first once i hear back from someone on the warranty

Any info would be greatly appreciated

thank you!!

I purchased a refurbished E10 (different model I know) from Doheny's and both the power control and robot itself were defective. I had no issues at all with Warranty Service. The power unit they shipped out a new one, didn't have to ship back the old one. With the robot they sent me a shipping label and had me send it into a dealer in Illinois (nearest one to me I believe). I had it back in a week and it's worked great since.

Careful with those third-party warranties, their liability is usually limited to the purchase price. It sounds like a lot but if you have a $700 repair (you'd be surprised at what a repair may cost) on a $950 item then you only have $250 in coverage left through the end of the warranty. Better to use a warranty-extending credit card.

Sorry for the delayed response, i wasnt getting notifications in email that someone replied. I went ahead and registered my product from Marina on Dolphins website and used the $75 Rebate promotion code, I will let you know if they approve my registration.

I did just get off the phone with Asurion (extended warranty) they again confirmed that they will cover my product even though it was not purchased from Amazon. He started saying that I did not need to provide them any details because the item was purchased from amazon and he said it automatically registers, i explained again that the plan was purchased from Amazon but the unit was purchased elsewhere. At first he wasnt sure if it would be covered but he put me on hold and called their product representative and they confirmed it is covered. He tried to tell me that i did not need to provide them with any other info until i filed a claim with them after June 26th 2021 but i insisted that he notate that it was purchased from Marina Pools and Spa, Maytronics S300i and he did. He also looked it up and confirmed that it had a 2 year manufacturing warranty and noted that on my product plan.

I asked about how that insurance works and he explained that it is a Service Plan, so if ANYTHING goes wrong, i call them and they set me up with an authorized service dealer and they pay them directly, no cost to me for shipping or deductible. If they determine it is un-serviceable, they will send me a check for my purchase price. I asked what happens say if in 3 years it needs a 650 repair, does my coverage end and he said no, it continues on in full for the remainder of the 3 years.

So just a heads up, looks like we can get extended service plans. He did say it was because the purchased was done over the phone cause he asked me if it was a local store i went to or over the phone, so i assume maybe local purchases do not apply but i never confirmed that with them. Just nice knowing that for $70 i have an additional 3 years coverage, which is basically the rebate

I hope that this helps others. The plan i purchased was
Amazon.com: ASURION 3 Year Lawn and Garden Extended Protection Plan $900-999.99: Electronics

Of course, it is always advised to call them first if you are purchasing it online from someone other than Marina Pools but im 99% sure the answer will be the same
