purple dust settled all over the bottom of the pool.

I had the pool opened by my pool store and it looked great. A few days later there is a fine dust on the bottom of the pool. When I sweep it it is VERY purple. I have the pool store baffled -- they suggested I just sweep it up and see if it comes back. It doesn't seem to come back, it is not a stain just a dust BUT it is very hard to get every bit out. I went back and they suggested I treat it with an expensive metal out. I'm fine with that but I have to wait til the chlorine drops to do that properly. The only theory I have is during the fall we had an older heater removed. It was rusted out and didn't work. They had to replumb when they removed it and maybe some metals got into the pipes? I want to put my solar cover on but until the purple is gone I'm afraid I will regret putting a cover on this pool. Every hour or two I go out and sweep it and it seems like it's getting better. I will add the metal out stuff once the chlorine drops but was wondering if anyone had this ever.

Thanks I've swept or vacuumed most of it -- the sides are the hardest and a small amount settles back. I can't use the metal binder until my chlorine is down. I'm dying to put my new solar cover on but I'm afraid after a week with the solar cover I could open to entirely purple.
