Pump timer - Intermatic T104R install

Hi everyone, It's almost that time in the northeast! I want to install the new intermatic pool pump timer I purchased today and need help conceptualizing the install.

I currently plug in my pool pump and let it run. I in-plug it when I need to turn it off. I don't have any sort of switch.

Does the timer replace the receptacle? If so, is it matter of pulling the wiring off of that and matching up with the diagram? Then, how do I "plug" in the pump?

Or does the receptacle stay?

All youtube vids I came across do not touch on this point.

Yes, the timer will replace the receptacle. You'll need to remove the switch and hard wire new pigtails from that switch box to the intermatic timer and run it thru flexible seal tight conduit. Make sure to use correct size wire for the install....prolly 12 awg wire and follow instructions on the timer for landing hot, neutral and ground wires.
Next you'll need to do the same for the pump. You could cut off the plug on the pumps cord, but for the install to be up to code, you'll need to do the same thing for the pump as you did for the switch.
