Protecting PVC - Wrapping??

Hello everyone!
We will eventually build some structure near/over our equipment, but for now, it all lives in 100% sun exposure daily, and has been this way for 2 years since install. I see some people talk about painting pipes - others say the paint doesn't really do any good, etc.

Has anyone wrapped their pipes in insulating pipe wraps like the material put around HVAC lines from home heat pump to the house wall? Seems like that would work well! The material around our house HVAC is white, which seems good for heat reflective purposes. We live in an area that has lots of wind, so some temporary structure idea is a no-go.

I think I need to get around to painting the new PVC pipe on my equipment pad and for my solar install before the summer ... thinking that it protects the pipe from the solar UV. But, I seem to recall some discussion that the paint does not actually protect the PVC from sun, so I am wondering...
