Problem with Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump Model SF90110T

We have a 9' x 18' Intex Ultraframe pool. It came with an Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump Model SF90110T. This is our third season with it. I am realistic about the durability of the pool and filter. We are now having an occasional problem when we turn on the filter and nothing happens, but we hear a constant buzz from the pump. There is no water flow in or out at all. After a few times turning the filter off and on, it will run fine.

I think the motor on the pump is not working. Does that make sense?

Welcome to posting on the forum!

Yes - your pump is failing. I would begin looking for a replacement system. Be sure to maintain your FC based on your CYA even if the pump fails and use a brush or something to keep the water mixed.

How are you testing and chlorinating your pool?

Take care.

OK. Baking soda is not a stabilizer. It adjusts Alkalinity and pH a little.

Your tablets are Trichlor. So for each tablet you use you add CYA. It never goes away until you drain the pool. It also creates a condition that you need ever higher levels of FC to maintain the proper Chlorine/CYA ratio.

Your pool is small. Thus you will have to drain it if it ever gets an algae bloom. That is OK, just be aware.

I suggest you read this -- Pool School - Guide for Seasonal/Temporary Pools

We have not had an algae problems at all, but we are aware of that possibility. I've read the Pool School guide in the past, but will go over it again.

I've also found where I can either get a replacement pump or an entire filter and pump if I need it.

Thanks for the help.
