Hello! I have a 2 month old custom pool, which in general works excellent. The main body of water is 38'x20', and it has a 6' (half circle) tanning ledge toward the front, and it's a shotcrete pool w/ Pebblesheen. It has 5 water features - 3 lionheads in a stone wall that spit water & 2 bubbler fountains in the tanning ledge up front. There are 4 water jets w/ angled attachments/sprayers, 2 skimmers & a Polaris cleaner (attached to it's own water jet).
However - I do have one problem that I find odd. Sometimes the bubbler fountains will go from making a "normal spray" pattern to a "around and around" spray pattern (which looks fairly bad).
The problem comes & goes. 95% of the time the bubblers work great, 5% of the time they mess up.
Here are a couple videos I took yesterday
- #1 - Bubbler Problem - Video #1 - YouTube
- #2 - Bubbler Problem - Video #2 - YouTube
A few notes:
- The black rubber spray nozzles of the bubblers are pointed straight up (they are adjustable, but very strong/tight so they would not just go "around and around" loosely).
- There are no foreign objects in the plumbing of the bubblers
- Turning the water pressure higher & lower will sometimes fix the issue, sometimes not.
- I thought the problem might be with the wind in the backyard, as it can be windy where we live, but I noticed it happens on both windy & regular days - just the same - so that's clearly not the cause. And by windy ... I'm talking 10-15 MPH.
- The bubbler & lion head fountain water pressure is definitely strong, coming through the nozzles. So it's not like its a pressure issue. I have 2 pumps - a large one from ??? and one from Polaris (which I imagine just controls the Polaris cleaning robot).
- The tanning ledge is approximately 6 inches or so deep
- There are no jets or skimmers (excluding the 2 bubblers) in the 1/2 circle that make up the tanning ledge, and not very close by
- The problem has occurred since day 1 of the pool installation, no changes have been made since day 1, and it is maintained well - cleaning/chemicals/and such
- My pool builder is one of the most reputable in my area. He's been building pools for 30+ years, and makes a quality product (I know everyone probably says that - but this guy is a for sure deal)
I talked with the pool builder, and he said (without looking at the pool) it has to do with current in the pool AND that it's normal. However - I've seen lots of other pools before, and not one has ever had this problem that I have observed.
What do you guys think? Can anything be done to alleviate this issue? Or no?
