Thanks to help from folks on here I just got in a Jandy check valve and tomorrow I'm going to install it. The pipe where it will be going is PVC. Lowes sells an Oatey all purpose cement for PVC, CPVC and ABS. From what I read the Jandy portion does not need any primer, what about the PVC? I did not see any PVC primer at Lowes except in a pack with cement.

Yes, definitely use primer on the PVC, I would use it on the CPVC also just to make sure it is clean and oil free. The red Oatey cement is good. The purple primer is fine and they should have some clear primer too.

Seems like a tricky business. I have already taken out the cover/flapper in an attempt to keep everything clean. I will take photos and report back a I perform the operation today. I was able to get a can of all purpose cement and also a can of primer at the store. Cost around $5 each.
