Pop up type (Meyco) pool cover anchor needs removal. I used extraction bit 4 years ago. Can’t remember how. Does anyone know?

The inside spring part won’t stay closed because the sleeve (casing) is smooth…no nubs to hold it. 4 years ago I pulled out 4 casings and replaced them. No drilling or expensive tools. My note said I used an “extraction bit“ but I can’t find anything in my tools that triggers my memory to what I did. Does anyone know? I only remember that I twisted them out …and that a couple were difficult but I managed to do it. I have the 4 old casings in a bag as proof but can’t remember anything else. I need to know how to remove the casing with the inside spring part already out. Thank you.
