Howdy all,

I recently installed a new timer motor for my Intermatic pool timer as the previous one had burned out. This new one runs fine, but when it reaches the OFF timer dog the gears quit moving and I've had to manually move the clock and turn it on the past few days. Any ideas as to what the problem might be/any possible solutions?

Thanks so much.

Another suggestion. Is it possible you wired the new timer up wrong so that when it trips off the whole timer shuts off? I.e. there's no power to move the timer. You can test this by removing the pegs, switch the timer to the on position with the manual switch. Then switch to the off position. Come back in an hour or so and see if the timer has moved.

It sounds like you powered the timer motor off the switched side of the timer rather than the always on side to me. The result of doing that would be the timer motor only has power when the timer is on, then when it turns off it loses power itself and can't keep going to turn back on again without power. If you post what model of timer it is someone should be able to give more details on how it should be wired.
