I'm looking for suggestions or options for shading my pool in the summer. In the Arizona heat, it gets uncomfortably warm (90+) in July or August.

I have a "play pool" style pool, and it has little caps in the deck on either side of the deep part. I assume these are for posts for a volleyball net. Has anyone used these for putting up a sail type shade or anything like that? The only other option I have in mind so far is an umbrella with a weighted base on the decking outside the pool.

I'm open to creative ideas or solutions, but looking to keep this pretty cheap.

I haven't looked into screening it in, but it sounds expensive. I also have a number of trees and plants in the area. I don't necessarily want the whole pool shaded, but it gets full sun all day long, so partial shade would be nice. I'm super white so I burn easily in the sun. :(

Shade sails require much sturdier posts than what you'd be able to put in the volleyball net sleeves, but those sleeves work great for patio umbrellas. We picked up a couple of cheap beach umbrellas from Costco a couple years back that we use in our volleyball net sleeves. We use door stop wedges in between the umbrella post and the sleeve to keep the umbrellas from twisting or getting picked up by a gust of wind.

If you have some sturdy fence posts and/or a building close to the pool, a shade sail might work well too. Just won't work so well trying to use the volleyball net sleeves.

Thanks! I might try that with the umbrellas. If they don't provide enough shade, I may get one of those cheap sail shades too, but I'm not sure yet what I'll attach them to. I can easily attach one end to my porch roof, but there's not much on the opposite end of the pool.
