Hey all, first time supporter, long time lurker and reader! TFP has been very helpful and I decided it was time to give back for all that I learned here over the years.

We built our pool around 10 years ago and I've taken care of it myself that entire time. I found TFP early on and have been using the principles I learned here to take care of it. The pool always looks great, and I've never added anything more to my pool other than salt, CYA, and muriatic acid to control pH. I've never had to shock it or had an algae bloom.

I've started traveling more for both work and pleasure, and I'm growing weary of taking care of my pool on the weekends (i.e. putting the robot in, taking it out and cleaning it, putting it away, adding acid, cleaning leaves, skimmer, filter basket, and then periodic backwashing and recharging the DE filter, annual DE grid cleaning). I'm at a point in life where I can easily afford to pay someone to give me some of my time back so I can enjoy both the pool, and life!

I've been thinking about hiring a pool service for awhile, but I'm always concerned they're going to want to change to their protocol of adding extra chemicals, setting my levels higher than I like (i.e. higher alkalinity, pH, adding phosFree or something).

Do any of you know of (or use) pool service companies in the Chandler, AZ area that follow TFP principles and are easy to work with in that sense? I'm willing to pay more for the service I want, but I've found many pool cleaning guys want to do it their way only. That's fine if their way aligns with my philosophy! :)

Thanks!
Bryan

If you set your expectations low enough, you can likely find someone to poorly care for your pool!

Many pool services will offer a cleaning only service, no chemicals. That might work for you...

Since there's been a lack of responses here, I'll post this in the public forums to see if I get any responses there.
Sorry about that. We don't have much to say on this topic. The pool service typically brings us new members looking for a better way, not the other way around. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe you can convince them that with the SWG, you'll handle the FC adjustments and tell them what else to add on the weekly cleaning visit. (Half gallon of MA, bag of salt, etc).

Pool services do pool care their way, not your way. Sometimes you can find ones that will just clean the pool and check the equipment but not do chemicals. But the larger service companies will have their own regimen for pool care as it allows them to service many pools per day per technician. Most pool service companies consider equipment work (pump servicing, filter cleanings, etc) as an add-on service charge. It’s not unusual for pool service companies around here to charge upwards of $300 or more to do a filter tear down and cleaning.

You can tell them you don’t want the chemicals adjusted except maybe for pH but then you’re going to be paying A LOT of money for a tech to come and clean out your skimmer/backwash your filter. That’s like 10mins worth of work once a week that you’ll be charged $250+ per month for ….
