I was told today by the pool store that using pool perfect could help lower your chlorine usage. Is that true? Dude said that you don't have to add as much chlorine overtime.
The enzymes in Pool Perfect have absolutely nothing to do with water sanitation. Also, your FC level is a function of your CYA level, so for them to say that your FC must 'stay between 3-4' without mention of CYA is also incorrect. This person is gravely mistaken concerning pool water care. Please don't follow any of their advice. We are just finalizing our pool build. We are deciding on if we want to get salt or not. They're almost finished. But, they said there are other ways to to reduce your chlorine usage other than Salt. Then they told me about enzymes. I asked specifically would your chlorine stay between 3 and 4 and they said yes you just have to add it less over time. Just curious!

I can't tell how many people have enjoyed our pool and commented that there must be some secret ingredient I use on it. Often they say there's NO chlorine in the pool because they can't smell it. When the truth is that our pool is CLEAN and Sanitary and that's why it doesn't smell.
Don't fall for the pool store nonsense. This system works and will save you tons of $$$$ over time. I don't get the logic of buying an expensive chemical that is supposed to make it so you use less of a very cheap chemical.
If you still have the option of going to a Salt pool please consider it. I travel quite a bit, and my pool stays clean and sanitized for days with no input from me. The secret is finding the balance that works for your situstion, sun, leaves, organic load, bather load etc all are different for everyone. The TFP guidelines will either work, or get you very close to a stable pool.
Good luck
