Walked out to my pool today and saw the pool light fell out of its position/niche. Undamaged and the screw is still in the assembly. I can’t feel the screw hole though.

It’s cold outside and the water is too cold for me to jump in and try to mount it back in.
I’m currently exploring pool repair and renovation options and a permanent fix would come in the next couple months. Until then, is it bad to leave the light on the pool deck or should I hire a professional to fix? I’m guessing a diver?

When I did a replaster several years ago, the company said it was best to remove the light and place it in a bucket of water sitting on the coping. This keeps it moist and if someone would turn it on by accident it has water around it to keep it cool. The wire should be long enough to reach the deck above it. Ideally try to ensure no one can turn on the light.

Thank you for the responses!
I’m not worried about the pool light being turned on because it didn’t work when it was in the niche to begin with lol. I guess my main concern was the water in the niche behind where the light assembly should be. Didn’t know if that was supposed to be dry.

So maybe the pool gods were telling you to repair the light???? The seal of the lens to the light body it what keeps the bulb dry. That why best to put in a bucket of water so it stays moist and not dry out in the sun. Then it may leak when you put it back in the niche. Now if you open it once you have it on your deck and you see moisture inside of lens or corrosion then you may have had a leak. Hopefully it only a burnt out bulb.
