Hi all,

I was wondering if the backside of a raised pool wall should have the tiles or not. Something like the picture attached where the travertine tile is on the backside.

My PB most likely won't install the travertine tile on the back part of our raised wall since my neighbor also used the same PB recently and did not have the tile on the back. The PB just put the textured decking material on the back side.

Any thoughts on this and if the back is typically tiled or not? Would it even be worth paying for the tiling on the back? Our pool has a manual fire strip on the wall that I would go back to turn on/off so would be seeing the back of the wall often enough I guess.

Thanks!

Travel - There is nothing 'typical' when it comes to pools. There may be typical for your PB, but generally speaking everything with finishes, is a matter of opinion.

I have a raised wall with a fire pit in it, and my stone wraps all the way around. If the back side of the wall is going to be a focal point, i.e. you will have seating back there, my opinion would be to have the finish wrap around.

Personally, and mine will be tiled this week, i want the travertine decking on the back side of the raised wall because when it is seen from the rear (you are right - it’s not the focal point) it will just tie in seamlessly to the deck. Again - a personal choice.
