Had a Jandy (Zodiak maybe?) heater 450,000 btu
28-30,000 gallon pool
Have a hot tub that overflows into the pool and enjoy heating each other separately and simultaneously. The heater died about five years ago and lasted only about five years. Was curious if anyone had any suggestions on a brand better than Jandy or any advice on newer ones. I realize certain installers like their certain brands. Appreciate any advice.

Welcome to TFP?

450,000 BTUs? You sure about that? Most residential gas pool heaters max out at 400K except for Hayward who now has a 500K heater.

How many gallons are in your pool?

You have natural gas or propane?

You have automation?

Jandy, Hayward H-Series, Pentair MasterTemp, Raypak Avia heaters are all basically the same with the same forced draft design. Heaters are a commodity. Which one you can get the best after sale service and warranty support may be the best consideration.

Sure on automation but I have a remote and a control panel control the heater and lights.

Like I said they are all basically the same.

I like the Pentair MasterTemp the most and the Jandy heaters the least. If you don't have automation the Raypak Avia comes with its own WiFi controls.
