So my pool has been closed already for two days; water temp was 59 degrees, pool balanced and clear. In NJ, 10K pool, mesh cover. Wondering if I should have added algaecide. If so, can I still add it effectively at this point even though the pump is off and lines are blown?

Is there a cover on the pool?

What algaecide do you want to add?

Why do you want to add it now?

Your poolmath logs show that you have added calhypo today- that is risky without circulation going.
Don’t let it rest on your liner. Brush brush brush.
Best to stick with liquid chlorine & use a submersible pump to mix things up if you can.

-Mesh cover
-Polyquat 60
-To prevent algal growth over the winter resulting in a cleaner pool when opening in the spring

It can't hurt but may be ineffective unless you pull your cover off and stir it around the water using your pool brush.

Next year add it before you close the pool. Read Algaecide - Further Reading

I added a mid winter dose when I used algecide and I diluted/stirred the bottle into 4 doses in a 5 gallon bucket. It wooshed across the pool on its own and clouded it up in no time.

Or...just open the pool as early as you possibly can. After a couple of decades, that is the primary lesson in Minnesota. It MUST be open by the time the local lakes are free of ice. Even a week later, and there is a risk of green. Then you spend time trying to transfer color - getting the green out of the pool, while trying to put green into the lawn. In NJ, I'd say when the risk of freezing has just past. Even if the water temp is high 30's, or barely 40. Then you can fire up the pump as needed to circulate chemicals once in a while, while you wait for things to warm to the point where you can stand to be outside doing leaf skimming, vacuuming, etc.

Could do as earlier suggested. Drop a utility pump in one end of the pool and run the hose to the other end of the pool. Let it run a few hours.
