@Katodude and @cmc0619 - I spent the last several hours on the forum here, reading up on automation. I have built a 240v electric home brewery control panel and am familiar with contactors/relays/DIN rails, PIDs, etc. from that project. I also have built a DIY sonos multiroom sound system (implementing a software solution called snapcast) at the house using raspberry pis and DAC HATs/external amplifiers and some really good Polk outdoor speakers.

All of this has me wanting to solve the following, major use case for our pool: manage pump speed to take advantage of variable speed pump elecricity cost savings while also being able to remotely schedule/monitor/trigger the heat pump and SWG to turn on/off. I don't care (at this point) about any chemical dosing or things like lighting controls.

My current setup is a ~14k gallon, fiberglass inground pool with a Hayward variable speed pump, a Hayward SWG, and a TH125 Thermeau heat pump (with reversal option for cooling). Nothing is wifi enabled or connected YET.

I'm hopeful this is the right forum to post in and would appreciate any advice about paths to potentially follow and/or threads to read up on!

There is a project here that should control your pump, SWG, schedules, heat pump, lights, and any other circuits controlled by the pool. This will also provide interfaces to your electric control panel. Read over the wikis and if you have any questions feel free to post in the discussions room.
