I know it's not critical at all to pool operation, but.... what can I use to polish up the exterior of an old DE filter to make it look shiny and new? Any suggestions? Stainless Steel cleaner?
Well since you are old school, with an old school filter, try turtle wax chrome polisher. It worked great in the 80s and 90s on chrome wheels, and bumpers. The filter will be so shinny you'll see all the tens of thousands of scratches the dirt is currently hiding.
Automotive stainless polish with different scotch Brite pads or steel wool. Test on the back of the filter first. You will eliminate all the scratches and make the scratches all the same. I do my stainless steel countertops every once in Awhile
