Polaris 360 Belts

Having an issue with the belts not staying on the wheels/pulleys. I've taken the thing apart, put the belts on and put it back in the water and it will run fine for anywhere from a day to a week and then whichever belt is on the outside will slide off and that wheel will stop turning. Done this about 5 times. At first, I was always putting the long belt to the front wheel on the outside and it would last several days to a week. This time, I put that belt on the inside and the short belt to the back wheel on the outside and it lasted about a day and a half. When I look at them just with my naked eye, it almost looks like they the pulleys aren't perfectly aligned with the pulley coming from the single wheel on the other side, but I don't see anyway to adjust that.

Could the belts just be stretched out and not have enough tension? They aren't super old but they aren't brand new either. And they still aren't the easiest to get back on there so there seems to be plenty of tension put perhaps not. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Welcome to TFP.

I have a Polaris 380 which has a different drive system. Over the last 30 years I have worn out three of them. When they age the screws start wobbling and things do not stay well aligned. Are you sure that everything is tight and aligned in the drive system?

How old is your 360?

There comes a point where they have too much wear and cannot be made to run like new.

This season I got a New 380 and was amazed at how well a new unit scoots around the pool. It was a big difference from my old 380 that was dragging.
