Polaris 280 Bag Question

I have a Polaris 280, and the thing drives me nuts, seems like it spends most of its time in corners, spinning its wheels. But the pool is clean, so I suppose it's doing its job.

One thing that confounds me is the little clamp which is supposed to ride up and down the hose, and attaches to a velcro tab on the top of the bag. The whole geometry of it seems weird to me, and the bag spends most of its time sitting at the bottom of the hose, as if it's not held up high as it should be. Is there some genius in this design that I'm missing?

Mine rides up the hose when the booster pump is on as the flow is pushing debris and water into the net bag.
There are multiple bags to consider
All Purpose Bag with zipperK-13
Silt Bag for fine particlesK-14
Leaf Bag - Large BlueK-15
All Purpose Bag with VelcroK-16

The wear rings on the sweep hose are actually split so that they can be rotated as they wear (which no one ever does) and replaced. Take the one closest to the head and place it at the other end of the sweep hose. Take the worn one from the far end and put it on the feed hose between the bag attachment plastic piece and the head. It will keep the bag up. Old "pool guy" trick that Polaris will never tell you.

You need to adjust the thrust jet at the back of the head so that the Polaris will track in a straight line and that will allow the shape of the pool to cause it to turn. Also, take the tires off the the wheels and reverse them so the outside edge is now the inside edge. It helps with a cleaner that is getting stuck. The tires do need to be replaced from time to time. There is a very small ridge just inside the outer edge. If the tire is worn and that ridge doesn't show, they need to be replaced.

Hopefully your back-up valve is working to pull the cleaner from wherever it gets stuck. Mine gets on the steps once in a while and has to be pulled off by that valve.
