Pentair Valves

Do the Pentair valves bug anyone else? The handle is 90 degrees to the pipe when open and in line when closed (the little off tab is the indication). This goes against everything I know about valves. Typically, the handle is inline when the valve is open. Is there a handle configuration that I can set up? I tried to unscrew the top handle and rotate, but it does not fit that way. The pictured valve is in the closed/off position.

Typically, the handle is inline when the valve is open.

Ball valves and some other misc brass-handled valves are in-line. Pool valves (not just Pentair) are generally this way.

Just get used to it.

It's not worth the trouble to make it work like you expect.

This makes sense for a 3-way valve, I get it. It just bothers me on a regular valve. Like JamesW says, I’ll just get used to it. Just a “grinds my gears” type of thing.

The diverter assembly is the same part number whether it's a 2-way valve or a 3-way valve.
Likewise, the handle is the same regardless if 2-way or 3-way.
This helps keep manufacturing costs down.

Jandy valves operate the same way, it's not unique to Pentair.

Just pay attention to where the word OFF is pointed.
