A better use of your money, if there is nothing else wrong with the heater, would be to replace the main gas valve. A valve that corroded should not be in service.
I replaced the Tprobe sensor. Same issue. I have to jiggle the connector with my fingers until the ignition kicks in. It takes a minute to find the right angle to hold the Tprobe connector in place to ignite the flame.
