I’ve pretty much lurker on here and reading great advice about my pool. I bought a house about four years ago that came with a pool. It also has a Pentair PG 2000 that has never worked since day one. I’m wondering if there is a replacement that I can wire into the Pentair light instead of having to remove the cable and pool light in the pool. Is there another affordable option to get lighting in my pool for less than $500. I priced out replacing parts for the pg2000 but it’s close to $500. Thanks for any suggestions.

Ok thanks. I’m looking at converting to LED. I troubleshooted the PG2000 and it has power however pretty much everything else is toast (the bulb, transformer, ballast and striker). I’m looking at replacing the whole unit to an LED unit as long as I can use the same location and power. I know I just have to run the LED cable and install the lens cap, etc. I’m trying to figure out my best option.

Thanks for the response.

A cheaper option would be to pull the fiber cable and install some small LED lights. The SR Smith Kelo lights are a good option for pool owners replacing their fiber optics. The lights are around $200 each and come with 80' or 150' of cable. These are 12v lights and they require a transformer or a controller.

The most affordable controller would be the poolLUX pLX-PW60. This can control up to 8 Kelo lights. That system does not have a remote. If you want an affordable one with a remote, the model number is pLX-PL60.

A pool owner on another recently purchased some and posted pictures.
