Pentair Globrites and Poor Seal

Hi all. We have two globrite lights in our pool and one color cascade bubbler, all Pentair. All three need replacement for the second time in six years due to faulty seals. I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions about ways to put extra sealant on them or somehow fortify them before we have them installed so they are likely to last a little longer this time? Thanks for any thoughts.

Hello Reeeba <whew! had to count those 'e's> Welcome to TFP :handwave:

Have you checked with Pentair about warranty claims?
I have read about the repeated problems with those Globrites and their particularly propitiatory niche which makes changing them to any other light difficult.

Here are some previous posts about the problem you might skim for more info-

Welcome to the forum.

That is a normal lifespan of a Globrite. I did put some silicone sealant on the sealing edge on my last set but they are only a few months old. A great replacement, however not for the bubbler I believe, are the lights from Florida Sunseeker. The lights are larger diameter. And I doubt you can control them as seamlessly as the Globrite with your Easytouch. You have to decide if control is more important than the cost to replace the Globrites every 3 years or so.

Thank you Maddie! Yes, the first round of replacements were under warranty and this next round I believe they will provide the equipment, and we will provide the labor (warranty is over so this is a customer satisfaction thing). I honestly just want to extend the life as long as I can. If I knew these would be a) proprietary and b) crappy I never would have gone with them! So expensive - and the one on the sub shelf will require a redesign when it’s time to replace with the newer model. ☹️

THANK YOU!! I am super interested in any potential replacement for future that will live longer and be cheaper to maintain. Much appreciated. I have been looking for just this info.

My globrite's are only lasting about 2 years. I have 2 out now and thanks to Pentair restricting their sale online, and no dealer near me selling them I can't even replace them. I called Pentair and the tech said the problem with globrite's is freezing in the winter and I should take all 4 out every winter:unsure:. They are junk and Pentair is sticking it to the costumer. I think I'm going to try the Florida Sunseeker replacement.

Same experience here. The Pentair GloBrite Color LED lights are garbage. 1 year warranty and they keep failing every 2 years. Properly made LED's for underwater applications should last 10 years+ for this price. At $500+ USD to replace each LED bulb it shows Pentair for a brand is now bad and should be avoided for lighting at a minimum. I do like the motors and pumps however. I bought the Sunseekers to replace. Totally different fully sealed, double the warranty and half the cost! The support to select, to explain and so far the customer service is STELLAR. They make it easy to buy and recommend. Anyone else purchase and install a Sunseeker? Any issues yet? How long have you had them installed?

We just did the same thing over the summer thanks to this group’s suggestion! We replaced two Globrites with Sunseekers and are very very happy with the outcome. No issues at all, except that they don’t exactly work with the Pentair automation. We can change the color with the remote of course but the names of the colors don’t line up. It’s a small price to pay for a much less expensive product and better customer service.
