Pentair Fiberworks Rope Lighting

Hi Everyone.
We moved into our new home last winter, first time pool owners. The pool here was put in roughly 20 years ago now. 16x40 inground. The previous owners had installed Pentair Fiberworks photon generator and fiber rope lights. The rope lights are recessed into a small channel right under the lip of the pool above the waterline.

I found the photon generator in the shed, but missing a power cord. When I take off the front cover it looks like some of the wires were stripped and put together with wire nuts. I've got no idea if the thing even works. If the power supply is still good there could be issues with the bulb, fan or color wheel.

Before I start trying to find parts for a 20yr old unit to try to bring it back to life, are there any good LED upgrades that I could use in place of the fiber rope lights? Or even a whole new photon generator that would be compatible with this setup?
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thank you. They list the parts but everyone of them is "Out of stock for the season" or "no longer available".

I did just make a power cable, wired it in and tried it. The unit doesn't power on. The fuse is good but there's no output out of the bulb, the color wheel does nothing and the fan doesn't come on. So I'm really no further ahead there.

I'd much rather scrap the whole thing and go LED or something newer technology if it exists.

I've been doing some reading, and it seems LED lights around the rim aren't recommended for safety reasons. This makes good sense.

So seeing as the parts don't seem to be available for this illuminator anywhere, and not sure what part is even defective at this point, is there a recommended replacement illuminator out there?
