Hello, we have a brand new pool with a Pentair Dorado cleaner. It seems to want to stay in the deep end and is not cleaning the shallow end. Also stuck on the drain a couple of times. I upped the pump to 3000 rpm and decreased skimmer suction to about 1/4 and no avail. The filter has not yet been cleaned but is not indicating "time to clean" yet. Thanks for any advice.

Seems like a common problem with that cleaner. I would complain to your PB and see if he will credit you towards getting a robot cleaner.

What type, size, shape is your pool?

We have a freeform pool, 10.2k gallons, 32 feet at longest point and 17 feet at widest point, with an Acapulco shelf in shallow end. I'll see what the pool company can do. The one thing I'm realizing is that this suction cleaner is going to cost a fortune in electricity even if it is cleaning the shallow end.

I think a vacuum cleaner is the least effective and most problematic type of cleaner although it works for some. An old school pressure cleaner with a booster pump is much much re effective. The Polaris Quattro Sport has many of the latest robot features powered by a booster pump. If you have a dedicated line for your vacuum it can be replumbed for a pressure cleaner.

Many folks here like their robot cleaners. You have lots of better choices.

I think I'm going to go with a Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus... Seems to have a lot of good reviews and will save big bucks on electricity compared with running the pump at 2900-3000 rpm for several hours per day. (Currently 22 hours a day since it was just plastered about 2 weeks ago.) Then I can just set the pump to run 24/7 at 1200 rpm for filtering/skimming and have minimal electric usage.
