Pentair Amerlite Bulb Replacement Recommendation

I am in need of replacing my Pentair Amerlite 400W incandescent bulb.

I wish to replace it with an LED bulb, maybe even one of the fancy multi-color bulbs.

My manual states I need:

1. Pentair American Products O-Ring, Amerlite, Light Lens, O-170 #79101600

2. Pentair 79102200 400-Watt 120-Volt Medium Base Floodlamp Replacement Amerlite Pool and Spa Light

Are these the only things I need to replace? Is it easy to do myself?

And instead of getting an incandescent bulb, what LED bulbs can I get that instead? Non-Pentair is fine as long as it's compatible.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Poly,

I replaced my incandescent with a LED. Its easy to do. Just take the light fixture out of the niche and get it up on the pool deck. From there, you can work on it.
(search Pool Light Replacement on YouTube, there are videos about it.

You will need that new gasket/o-ring for the pool light fixture.

Replacement bulbs come in different voltages, so when you select one, MAKE SURE it operates on 120 volts.
the type of connector on the bulb is also of note. They come in 2 pin and the normal bulb screw in type. So make sure you get the screw in type of bulb.

I put a Color Splash LED Bulb in mine, but there are others out there too, but I dont have any particular experience with. Perhaps someone else will chime in and offer more info on those.

Reviews from the experienced users are in the same link you provided. I usually pay more attention to the negative or critical reviews and go from there.

As an aside, I have Pureline PureColors Color Changing Led by INYOPOOLS and so far, no complaint here.
