It looks like pentair has two cleaning kits, the 520670, https://lesliespool.com/pentair-intellichlor-acid-washing-kit/620917.html

And the 523103, https://lesliespool.com/acid-wash-cleaning-stand-pentair-ichlor/951013.html

It looks like the 523103 is the newer version which is more of a stand.

Any input on which is a better choice?
Don’t clean your cell with acid unless it’s caked up with calcium deposits. Acid erodes a layer of the expensive metal coating that makes the device work.

If it is caked up now, figure out why and chip away as much as you can manually with a popsicle stick, etc. if you run the CSI slightly negative you shouldn’t ever have to clean the cell.

I cleaned it for the first time today since putting it in. It had a little build up on the fins, I was able to scrape it off.

It’s hard to tell but there maybe a little more that’s hard to scrape and won’t come off. It won’t impact anything since it’s such a tiny amount.

Will negative csi remove any of the buildup or just for future?

What is your TA?

The CSI in the SWG cell is very different and higher then in the pool water. With high TA and aeration from the bubbles the SWG creates, you'll get faster pH rise inside the cell and so there's more potential for scaling.

About 65 last I checked

I say 65 because at 70 it still isn’t a full red

That is not the proper way of testing. You add reagent until you get no further color change and then subtract the last drop.

Are you using a stirrer?

With your K-2006 you can only measure 60 or 70.

Lower your TA to 50-60.
TFP recommended is 60-80, would that small of a difference cause scaling?

I believe it may be from running my PH on the higher side. I hovered around 7.8- 8 to maintain the csi, it may have passed 8 this past few months.

Bringing the csi further down would that remove the buildup?

Playing with pool math, I believe at most I may have been +.15 is that enough for some build up? It wasn’t much, a Wooden dowel took care of majority of it, with maybe a hint of a little scale that won’t scratch off.

I doubt it. Like I wrote the CSI in the cell is very different then in the water.

That is minor scaling. Just clean it as you have and skip the acid.

Thank you, I appreciate your responses.

One last question, acid will remove a layer of the metal, will scratching it with a wooden dowel do anything to damage it?

A wood dowel should do no damage to titanium plates coated with rare earths.
