newly installed and our heater keeps throwing the AGS error. It will heat for a while and then throws the error.
We got up this am with our new pool at 64! Yes it’s getting cooler at night and we do not have our cover installed or is our install completed.
Thoughts? Our PB just tells us to turn it off and restart. He will contact Pentaor for the fox. Mean while I don’t have much faith in the guy. He has been absent from the project for a month. And we have pipes uncovered and a huge mess in our yard.

The AGS trips (opens) when the internal water temperature exiting the heat exchanger is 140 or more. It is a backup to the high-limit switch which is set to open at 135. This is usually caused by too low a flow rate. Possibly a bad internal bypass or thermal regulator, but not likely in a new heater.
Is there an external heater bypass partially closed? Is the VSP set to give enough flow to the heater? Its possible to have just enough flow to close the pressure switch but not enough to allow for proper heating. Water that hot can scald as it enters the pool/spa and the heater shuts down.

How much flow are you getting?

What is the pump speed?

Go to the SWG and check the water temperature reading and then turn the heater on and watch how much the water temperature reading increases.

Why isn't the cell plugged in?

I’m not sure. Why this isn’t plugged in. They the pool people haven’t been back since the gas company/plumbers hooked the gas line in.
Should it be ? PB wont be on site for at least another week! (Frustrated with him!)

The cell should be plugged in.

Did they already add the salt?

You can at least use it to check the water temperature to see how much the temperature rises with the heater on.

For example, if the temperature with the heater off is 71 degrees, the maximum temperature rise would be 16 degrees to 87 degrees.

If the temperature goes over 87 degrees with the heater on, then you don't have enough flow.

Pressing the diagnostic button sequentially will display:

  • Default salt display
  • Pool temp
  • Cell Voltage - When not generating, the voltage is about 30 to 32 volts dc. When generating, the voltage drops about 1 volt per amp of current.
  • Cell current
  • Desired output (% of the knob)
  • Instant salinity
  • Product name
  • Software revision (r.XX)
  • Cell type

We plugged the cell in and re-fired the heater to see if it error codes again. We could hear the line heating and will go check on it later this evening.
I am so thankful for all your help. I’ll report back later.

Check the diagnostics from the Aquarite box to see what the water temperature is coming out of the heater and compare it to the heater water inlet temperature reading.

Just push the little black button to get the readings.

The aqua rite says 74 and the heater is still running with no errors.

Just got home and here is what I found .. the heater had a AGS error
History errors were AFS
AGS
AFS
PS
AFS

The flame says n/a

No I do not. I am thinking this is way bigger than I am.
When the plumber finished he just told me it was set to 75 and have the PB handle the rest. I do believe that the electrician new what was up. He just installed his own.

Should we be concerned about the flame as n/a?
