Paver Deck /Coping To Seal or Not to Seal?

I have used white/gray sandblasted marble for coping and selected the same for the pavers. Pavers installation on a concrete sub deck starts Monday . The sub who did the coping ( who I really like ) and will also do the pavers says I really need to seal both coping and pavers to make them easy to clean and not get stained easily. The PB said that I should not seal. The stone comes from Faber CNK , I called them and they said it's really personal preference. They offer 2 sealers one for a dry look ( which they say will have the stone looking as it does now ) the other is a wet look. In any event , I am confused , to seal or not to seal? This is not aesthetics for me. I am just worried about staining and cleaning .

One last question: how do I keep this white, new , very expensive deck from getting messed up when the plaster crew comes in to do the stonescapes?
Would appreciate any feedback.

Top coat sealers can create a couple of issues. One, moister created stains and possible mildew stains from under sealer are now that much harder to treat, and, it's a continuous maintenance issue to strip and redo every few years. At best, you want a penetrating water repellent that penetrates into the stone.

THANK YOU for the info , very helpful !

Hi Parkinsmith,

What did you decided to do? Also, do you recommend Faber. I am looking to use travertine for my deck and will be considering them. I will appreciate if you can share your experience with them. You can DM me if you prefer. Thanks.

Hi, I decided to go ahead and seal with the NS900 Stain Pro Max by Serveon, it is a penetrating sealer . This is what Faber suggested. It will be applied on Sunday so I can let you know how it goes. I for sure recommend Faber, great products and very helpful.

Thanks a lot. I signed the contract today. I will be doing travertine decking separately. I am planning on visiting Faber with my wife next week. If you do not mind can you share contact of your paver installer. I am planning on installing pavers on stabilizing sand. Thanks.
