Painting Concrete Cantilever Edge

Jul 12, 2010

Last summer I noticed our stained Cantilever Edge around our inground pool looked like it needed to be resealed. We were having our pool deck resurfaced and I asked the contractor if he also worked on cantilever pool edges. He said yes, but I am 99 % sure he just painted it because now whatever he used is wearing off. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I tried reaching out to him to see if he could come back and touch it up or at least give me the name of the product he used but he’s apparently ghosting me!

I’m getting ready to sell my house and really want to fix it so it looks better. I can’t get anyone to call me back (I’ve tried numerous pool contractors as well as concrete places with no luck). Is it possible for me to buy some sort of outdoor paint and just paint it myself and if so does anyone have a product they’d recommend? Also, I’m kind of worried about getting paint in the pool if i do paint it so any tips on how to avoid that would be welcome! lol

Concrete stain is many times just fancy paint. Sherman Williams makes some as well as others.

IMO, it doesn’t look that bad and putting paint over the top without all the proper prep work (sanding the old finish, primer) will just make the new owners annoyed at you when the new “stain” fails again.
