Hi There,

I've just pulled out an old Ozone generator from my Spa pool that appeared to not be working (it was close to 10 years old so needs replacement anyway) the interesting thing I noticed is that the ozone is directly piped into a port on the spa without going through a venturi or a pump. It looks like it was designed this way from the factory.

The old Ozone unit didn't appear to have a built in pump at all, the the new one I have bought certainty does not have a pump built in - So I'm just stumped as to how an old Ozone would have worked before directly piped into a outlet in the spa??

Cheers
Mark

Old spas ran ozone directly to a jet air fitting. The venturi is part of the jet.
THIS DESIGN IS INEFFECTIVE AND CAUSES OZONE TO COLLECT UNDER THE COVER, WHICH WILL DESTROY THE COVER. DO NOT REPLACE THIS OZONE GENERATOR!

Thanks very much for your reply's!

It was a Spazone Ozomatic Ozone Generator and yes it was plumbed directly into its own fitting (not part of the jets of the spa) with a sort of sand filter dispenser on the end, no venturi or connection to the main pump at all.

When you say don't replace the ozone are you saying don't replace it at all? or put in something else, I have certainty noticed on another spa I have which is a Sundance the cover plus side cushions are stuffed (old spa - 8 years old but replaced the cushions last year) have deteriorated massively!

Some deterioration is unavoidable, but if the ozone line goes to a jet, not an inline venturi in a pipe/hose, it will do it much much faster.
Leaving your cover open for 30 minutes after adding chemicals and not using a tablet dispenser will also help alot.
