Outlet jet and inlet strainer not fitting - from intex into best way. Supposedly the same size, NOT!

Hello I bought a bestway steel pro max 15’ x 48”. I had basic/ stock inlet strainers and outlet jet from our old intel easy set pool. However, those inlet and outlet strainer/jet is not fitting into the pool wall all the way despite being the “same size” (1.25”). I can not figure out why except for thinking the inserts are tapered and meeting resistance? This is problematic, please help if you can!

Intex hoses can be 1.25” or 40mm (1.57”) that will not fit a 1.25” hole.

Thank you everyone for your advice! So I bought adapters in a smaller size (1.25”) and it still didn’t fit. So dang! But anyhoo LUCKILY the intex sand filter I bought was faulty and I returned it and thought “let me just stick with the same brand as the pool this time”. so I bought a Bestway sand filter and it came with ALL THE ATTACHMENTS and they fit like a glove. I was SO RELIEVED to experience this. The crazy thing is I bought 1.25” attachments offline and this filter came with the same size attachments but only the Bestway ones fit. So all I can say to people experiencing this is just stick with the same brand as your pool if you have that option. I almost cut holes and am not ready for all that yet! Maybe next year…
